Azerbaijanis in France

During the Second World War, many Azerbaijani soldiers, like Ahmadiyya Jabrayilov, escaped Soviet captivity or otherwise found their way to France, where they joined the local Resistance movement.

The stories of these individuals often remained undocumented for many years, since they were frequently forced to conceal their true national identity. Archival research in recent years has helped bring these stories to light.

This page will be enriched further as ongoing research continues.
